Rebel KD Cunningham Signs with Kentucky Wesleyan Football
From the Feb 11, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (February 7) — McKenzie High School football standout Kadarius (KD) Cunningham will continue his gridiron career at Kentucky Wesleyan College. The senior was feted at a signing ceremony Friday in the MHS Theater, joined by family members, coaches, teammates, classmates, teachers and a plethora of supporters.
Principal Kelly Spivey welcomed all and complimented KD as well as all of the supporters who helped him along the way.
KD’s father, MHS Assistant Coach Kentrell Diggs, encouraged everyone to strive to reach their dreams with KD as an example of what hard work can accomplish.
The ceremony was notably long as many, many groups and individuals wished to have their photo taken with the beloved three-sport athlete and share in the celebration.
KD told The Banner he chose Kentucky Wesleyan because it always felt like home. “The first time I went there, for a camp, it felt like the right place to be. When they made the offer, God put it on my heart.”
He said he chose football because it’s a family sport. “Being around it since I was little, it’s a special thing to me.”
KD expects to play defensive line and could see some playing time on offense as well.
He said that being a Rebel has meant “everything” to him. “The town, the atmosphere, it’s always felt like a good place to play sports. I will always treasure being a Rebel, always.”
He will major in sports management.
Kentucky Wesleyan College is located in Owensboro, Kentucky. The Panthers compete in the NCAA Division II’s Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
