Davis Joins MTSU Coaching Staff

MURFREESBORO — McKenzie High School alum and basketball standout Shelby Davis recently joined the Middle Tennessee State University women's basketball staff as an assistant coach and coordinator of basketball relations.
After graduating from MHS in 2020, Davis played two years of collegiate basketball at Williams Baptist University before transferring to MTSU in 2022. She joined the Blue Raiders as a manager.
She graduated in December 2024, earning a degree in Integrated Studies with a minor in Athletic Coaching. She then became a graduate assistant for the basketball program while pursuing her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
As a high school player, Davis earned All-District honors four times and All-Region twice. She also earned the team's Leadership Award three times.
As a collegiate player, she earned All-Academic honors in both of her seasons.
Davis told The Banner, "Basketball has always been a passion of mine, and I've always known that I wanted to build a career in this field. As a child, my dad and I would come to the state tournament every year at MTSU, and I always dreamed of one day playing on this gym floor. While I wasn't fortunate enough to win state championships here like my sister [Savannah, now a Blue Raider herself] did, I never imagined I would get the chance to return as a coach. Proud to be a Blue Raider, but always a Rebel at heart."
