National Day of Prayer Observed in County

McKENZIE (May 2) — Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Day of Prayer event on Thursday, May 2 at the Carroll County Airport in the main hangar.

Twenty-five area citizens offered Christian prayers for specific areas. Brad Hurley, president of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce welcomed everyone to the annual event.

In front of a backdrop of the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s helicopter and Tosh Farms’ jet, each of the presenters spent a few minutes at the lectern in prayer as part of the National Day of Prayer.

Those offering prayers and their topic of prayer were:

Brent Dillahunty — National Day of Prayer; Joseph Butler — Carroll County Citizens; Natalie Porter — State Leaders; Mandy Bryant — Graduates; Melissa Powell — Healthcare Providers; Michael Dennison — Gold Star Families; Mike Cary — Senior Adults; Walter Winchester — God’s Word; John Wright — Billy Graham’s Prayer for the Nation; Ryan Griffin — Carroll County Churches; Andy Rice — Military; Wilma Pearson — Local Leaders; Walter Butler — Carroll County K-12; Scott Carter — Families Who Have Lost Loved Ones; Brian Winston — Business Community; Rick Crossno — First Responders; Kim Johnson — Farmers; Anne Hames — Bethel University; Kenny Herndon — Federal and World Leaders; Utility Workers — Michael Butler; Col. James Harding — Veterans; Ike Gilbert — Needy; Nina Smothers — Family; Joe Smothers — President Washington’s Prayer for Our Nation; Ryan Drewry — Lord’s Prayer.

Matthew Holt was the keyboardist and song leader for the event.
