Friday was Deadline for Property Tax
From the Mar 4, 2025 e-EditionHUNTINGDON (February 28) — Friday, February 28, marked the deadline for Carroll County property tax payments. To avoid a penalty, residents had to pay by the end of the day.
Carroll County Trustee Paula Bolen stated property taxes can be paid in person at the trustee’s office, by mail, or online. The accepted payment methods include cash, check, or credit card.
Residents who do not pay their 2024 property taxes by the February 28 date will face a 1.5% penalty starting March 1. Additionally, any unpaid 2023 taxes must be settled by March 15, or they will be turned over to Chancery Court, incurring further costs.
Bolen said that approximately 80% of 2024 property taxes have already been paid, a figure consistent with previous years. She also highlighted options for taxpayers to ease future payments, including automatic monthly bank drafts and partial payment plans.
