Huntingdon, Tenn. – Dental appointments are now available at the Carroll County Health Department. The dental services available are comprehensive care, including exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and emergency care for uninsured adults and children and TennCare members who would otherwise not be able to receive this important care.

Tooth decay is one of the most common chronic diseases throughout the United States, including  Tennessee. Tooth decay and gum disease have been linked to other chronic diseases such as diabetes,  heart disease and adverse outcomes in pregnancy. Oral health is key in determining an individual’s quality of life. Poor oral health can adversely impact an individual’s nutrition, self-esteem,  school performance, ability to obtain employment, and school and work attendance.

For more information regarding dental services, contact the Carroll County Health Department at 731-986-1990. For a list of all services offered at local health departments, go to http://health.tn.gov/local.
