From the Jul 1, 2025 e-EditionMrs. Diane Lankford, 80, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, died on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born September 11, 1944 to the late Leonard Abell and Claudia Joyner Abell. She retired from Thomas Bradford Shirt Company after 25 years. She loved Jesus, and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She valued her time with her family, and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially loved being outside where she could tend to her garden and her flowers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Mr. Sammie “Gene” Lankford of Huntingdon, TN; one daughter, Joyce (Andy) Brown of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada; one son, James (Ericka) Lankford of Clarksburg, TN; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Lankford Fitzgerald.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Stanley Carter, Brian Lankford, Jay Hollowell, Grant Paul, Bradley Barrells and Andy Brown.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday June 29, 2025 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral. Interment will follow at New Crossroads Cemetery. Brother Clint Ezell and Brother Scott Carter will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and on Sunday from 11:00 AM until the time of services at 2:00 PM.
