District Tournaments Continue After Delays

Area high school basketball teams saw district tournaments disrupted by winter weather last week. Some districts have since completed their tournaments, but others are still in process. Region tournament schedules had not been released as of The Banner’s press deadline.

District 12A
The District 12A Girls Basketball Tournament concluded Monday, February 24 at McKenzie High School after The Banner’s press deadline. The consolation game featured Hollow Rock-Bruceton and Houston County, while the championship game paired the host Lady Rebels with the McEwen Warriorettes.

The 12A boys conclude their tournament Tuesday, February 25 at MHS. The host Rebels will face Hollow Rock-Bruceton in the consolation game, followed by the title match between Houston County and McEwen.

District 13A
Both District 13A tournaments continue this week at West Carroll High School.

The girls’ semifinals were Monday after the press deadline. Middleton faced Halls while the host Lady War Eagles played Humboldt. The tournament concludes Wednesday with the consolation and championship games.

The boys’ semifinals are Tuesday with games between Humboldt and Bradford and Middleton and Halls. The host War Eagles were eliminated in the opening round. Consolation and championship games are Thursday.

District 14A
Both District 14A tournaments continue this week at Bethel University’s Crisp Arena.

The girls’ tournament concludes Tuesday with the consolation game between Gleason and Greenfield and the championship game between Dresden and Union City.

The boys’ semifinal contests were Monday after the press deadline between Union City and South Fulton and Gleason and Greenfield. The tournament concludes Wednesday with the consolation and championship games.

District 12AA
The District 12AA Girls Basketball Tournament concluded Saturday with the Huntingdon Fillies as runner-up to champion Stewart County.

The boys’ tournament, hosted by Stewart County, concluded Monday after the press deadline. The consolation game featured Waverly and Stewart County, while Huntingdon and Camden battled for the championship.
