The Dixie to Host Art Camp
From the Jun 9, 2026 e-Edition
The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center’s annual summer camps kicked off in May with photography classes. This month, summer camps continue — starting with Art Camp June 15-19.
Students in fourth through 12th grade are invited to this five-day art camp, where they will explore art through hands-on 2D and 3D projects using paint, printmaking, collage and sculpture.
Fourth, fifth and sixth graders are invited to the 9-10:30 a.m. camp. Seventh through 12th graders have a later class, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at The Dixie.
Huntingdon native Laura DeVille is this year’s Art Camp instructor.
DeVille has a background in graphic design and studio arts and has been a part of The Dixie since 2013. She is a graduate of Lambuth University and furthered her education studying fine arts abroad in France and Italy. DeVille has taught art at the university level and for several seasons at The Dixie. She lives in Huntingdon with her husband and two children.
Students are asked to sign up for The Dixie’s Art Camp before 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15. Registration is $75 and nonrefundable.
Later in the summer season, The Dixie will host Storymakers: From Idea to the Stage (fourth through eighth grade) June 22-26; Photography for Students (fourth through eighth grade) June 29-July 3; Passport to France: The Ultimate French Culture Mash Up (third through seventh grade) June 29-July 3; and Pottery Camps (Kindergarten through 12th grade) July 27-31.
