She retired after 42 years from Bellsouth telephone company where she worked in management and was a member of the telephone pioneers. She enjoyed country music, concerts, working puzzles, and crossword puzzles. Dorris loved the Old 23rd District of Henry County. She was a devoted wife and loved her family.
Dorris was born April 9, 1933, in the Old 23rd District of Henry County, Tenn., to the late Olin Perry and the late Lou Ross Perry.
She was married on May 15, 2001, to Gene M. Rich, who survives, of Huntingdon.
Along with her husband, she is survived by one sister, Ruth (Roger) Taylor of Paris; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by six siblings, Edwin Perry, Baxter Perry, Mertice Roberson, Mary Lou Craig, Sandra Medlock, and Claudine Perry; one sibling in infancy; and one special niece, Rae Taylor.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2024, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Chad Kennedy officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Taylor, Joseph Cooper, Josh Warbritton, Perry Herndon, Burton Bennett, and Brad Smith.
Burial will be in Palmer Shelter Cemetery in Huntingdon, Tenn..
