Dresden Sweeps McKenzie
From the Nov 4, 2025 e-EditionMcKENZIE (October 27) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Dresden Monday for a pair of basketball games, their second home set of the season. The visiting Lady Lions led the game throughout for a 38-23 win. The Rebels and Lions kept it close, but Dresden secured the 39-22 win.
Dresden Lady Lions 38, McKenzie Lady Rebels 23
The Lady Lions started with a 11-5 lead to set the tone for the first quarter. Dresden’s C. Fulton had three pairs, followed by E. Collins and K. Smith, each with a two-pointer. Lady Rebel Charlie Cassidy had a pair and a free throw shot. Kristy Towne had two points.
The Lady Lions extended a 21-11 lead before the end of the second quarter. Fulton and Collins had two pairs each, and H. Davis had a pair. Cassidy, Abby Carroll and Ruthie Adkins each had a pair.
The Lady Lions kept a 30-16 lead in the third quarter against McKenzie. Lady Lions Fulton had two pairs, Smith had a pair, and Collins hit two free throws. Lady Rebel Cassidy had three free throws, Towne had one free throw shot and Willow Stenburg also hit a free throw.
Lady Lions secured the 38-23 win in the fourth, Sulton with two pairs, along with Collins and Parham each having a pair. McKenzie’s Towne hit five free throw shots, and Carroll had a pair.
C. Fulton led the Lady Lions in scoring with 18 points on nine two-point shots. E. Collins scored nine points with four two-point shots and one free throw shot.
Charlie Cassidy and Kristy Towne led the Lady Rebels with eight points each, and Abby Carroll had four points.
Lions 39, Rebels 22
Dresden kept it close but took the first-quarter lead with the score of 9-5. Lion Cannon West hit a three-point shot and a free throw shot. Will Forester and Joe Reese Allman each had a pair. McKenzie’s Seth Stafford hit four free throw shots.
Dresden and McKenzie had a close quarter, but Dresden kept a 20-15 lead at halftime. Case West hit a three-point shot, Cannon West had three two-point shots, and Forester had a pair. Stafford hit a three-pointer, two pairs and a free throw shot. Kamden Lee had a pair, and Jackson Barden hit a free throw shot.
Dresden extended the lead with a 28-17 score after the third quarter. Allman had two pairs, along with Case West and Walters each with a pair. Stafford had a pair for the Rebels.
Dresden further extended the lead in the fourth for the 39-22 win. Allman and Case West had two pairs, and Walters hit a three-pointer. Kamden Lee hit a three-point shot for McKenzie, and Dierks Ghyers had a pair.
Jone Reese Allman, Cannon West and Case West led the Lions with ten points each.
Seth Stafford led the Rebels with 14 points. Kamden Lee scored five points.
