Dresden Sweeps McKenzie

DRESDEN (November 13) — Dresden Middle School hosted McKenzie Thursday for a pair of basketball contests. The hosts controlled their home court for two strong wins. The Lady Lions won 44-14, while the Lions claimed a 45-18 victory.
Dresden Lady Lions 44, McKenzie Lady Rebels 14
The Lady Lions jumped out to a 7-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Hallie Davis with three points. Charlee Sutton and Annabelle Pickering each had a pair. Macy Brooks scored two for the Lady Rebels.
Dresden had a 12-9 edge in the second quarter, led by Pickering with six points, including a three-pointer. Davis, Sutton and Emzy Collins each had a pair. Lady Rebel Kristy Towne scored eight points, and Presley Shipp hit a free throw. At the half, Dresden led 19-11.
The Lady Lions had an 18-3 advantage in the third, led by Sutton with seven points. Davis scored six, Jencee West hit a three-pointer, and Collins added a pair. Towne had all three McKenzie points. Entering the final frame, the Lady Lions led 37-14.
Dresden capped the win with a 7-0 tilt in the fourth. Laney Scott scored four points, and Davis had three.
Lady Lion Hallie Davis led all scorers with 14 points. Charlee Sutton had eleven, and Annabelle Pickering scored eight with a three-pointer.
Kristy Towne led the Lady Rebels with eleven points.
Lions 45, Rebels 18
Dresden pulled ahead 16-7 in the first frame, led by Cannon West with nine points on a trio of threes. Jon Reece Allman scored five with a three-pointer, and Kyler West had a pair. Lane Brown scored all seven Rebel points, including a three.
The Lions had a 7-5 edge in the second quarter, led by Case West with three points. Allman and Will Forrester each had a pair. Brown hit a three-pointer for McKenzie, and Dierks Ghyers had a pair. At the half, the Lions led 23-12.
Dresden pulled away with a 22-6 advantage in the third, led by Cannon West with four points, including a three-pointer. Case West, K. West and Triston Walters each hit a three, and Allman, Austin Seaton, Ben Pettit and Kaiden Evans each had a pair. Emmitt Hobock hit a free throw. Rebel Navadius Owens scored three points, Mahkyn Gilbert had a pair, and Kenden Coleman hit a free throw. Heading into the final frame, Dresden led 45-18.
A quick fourth quarter was scoreless on both ends.
Lion Cannon West led all scorers with 13 points, including four three-pointers. Jon Reece Allman scored nine, also with a three.
Lane Brown led McKenzie with ten points, including a pair of threes.
