CARROLL COUNTY — The driver’s license kiosk at the Carroll County Office Complex makes renewals quicker and more convenient for Carroll County residents. County Clerk Darlene Kirk shared that many residents have been very receptive to the self-service kiosk since its installation in February 2025.

The kiosk, located outside the county clerk’s office, minimizes the hassle of driving to the nearest Department of Motor Vehicles and waiting in line for a renewal. The kiosk is completely self-serviced, but nearby office personnel are available to help if any issues come along.

To renew or replace a driver’s license or photo ID, a person only needs his or her driver license number, photo ID number or social security number. The kiosk can also take a new ID photo if necessary. Users will receive a paper copy of the new driver’s license, and the card version will be sent over the mail.

The kiosk also processes address changes and upgrades from Intermediate Restricted (IR) to Intermediate Unrestricted (IU) licenses for drivers 17 years or older.

The kiosk does not accept cash or checks; only a credit card, a debit card, Apple pay or Google pay can be used to pay for a replacement or renewal.

The driver’s license kiosk is issued by the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security. While the kiosk can renew Real IDs, it cannot help someone obtain a Real ID unless he or she uploads the correct documents before using the kiosk.
