Good Weather, Attendance at McKenzie Chamber of Commerce Event
Egg Drop Draws Thousands
From the Apr 15, 2025 e-Edition
McKenzie (March 23) — Record crowds filled McKenzie City Park as thousands of excited children from throughout West Tennessee gathered for the fourth annual McKenzie Chamber of Commerce’s Easter Egg Drop.
The clear skies and warm temperatures brought out thousands of children and their families to participate in gathering/hunting some 50,000 eggs. The candy filled eggs were spread among open grounds and near the walking trails at the park, located on Como Street.
A helicopter from AeroLuxe Aviation dropped some 2,000 eggs for the event, creating excitement as plastic eggs were dropped on the hunting fields.
Hunting was divided into four age groups: 0-2; 3-4; 5-7; and 8-10 and separated at 20-minute intervals to better accommodate traffic flow.
A golden egg was hidden on each of the four fields. Its contents were worth $50.
Bethel University football and the ladies basketball teams along with individual Bethel students and sororities helped at the event. Face-painting, shaped balloons, photos with the Easter bunny and other balloon characters were available for the children.
Chamber Executive Director Monica Heath said, “We were so excited this year for our egg drop. In previous years, the weather has been cold and windy but Saturday’s event was perfect. We had record breaking crowds in attendance. I wanted to thank all those who helped makes this event a success and we hope to see everyone again next year.”
A small petting zoo was enjoyed with rabbits, turtles, a goat, and chickens. For those looking for food, the Chamber invited various food trucks to the event. The event was sponsored by Chamber members Centennial Bank and Allegion of McKenzie.
The Chamber appreciates its members and the many volunteers who help give back to the community.
