The Randall Dunn Memorial Trophy is given in memory of Randall Dunn, a police officer who worked for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Huntingdon Police Department. He trained dogs and was a K-9 officer. Before his death, he also served as a judge in the dog show.
The award is selected and presented by Dunn’s daughter, Sherry Smith, based on the bond she sees between dog and handler.
Unbeknownst to Smith until after her selection, Darlene’s handler, Danielle Covey, is training the pup to be a medical alert dog for her own heart condition. The 16-year-old is planning to be a dog trainer by trade and is currently training several other dogs as well.
