The Farmers Market had an abundance of fresh tomatoes, watermelons, cantaloupes, onions, squash, zucchini, carrots, and cucumbers. However, it sold out fast. If you are interested in produce, be sure to arrive early.

We are impressed by the youth and young adult entrepreneurs in the market. They have booths selling bakery goods, dog treats, home décor, crochet toys and clothes, honey, candles, natural cleaning products, tamales, and more. These are our future business and entrepreneurial leaders and their work, their products and skills selling their items are very impressive.

Carroll County 4-H held Grilling 101 and cooked some delicious hot dogs which they served to vendors and customers. Our youth learned safe grilling methods in addition to best grilling techniques for hot dogs.

Be sure to save the date for our Sweet Tea and Southern Pickin’s Festival on August 26 and 27. On Saturday, August 27, our 4-H sponsors the Vegetable Derby, so start thinking about building your vegetable race car. We will also have Susie’s Petting Zoo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Farmers Market. After spending a fun morning at the market, you can stroll down Waldren to the depot where we will have a variety of water slides for children to cool off. In addition, we will have food trucks, booths for pickin’ through, and live music in the downtown Veterans Park.

The McKenzie Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon, or until vendors sell out. It is also open on Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m.

We’ll see you at the Farmers Market!
