Fiery I-40 Crash Claims One Life, Injures Three

JACKSON (September 1) — One person was killed and three others were injured Tuesday in a fiery four-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 near mile marker 73 west of Jackson that shut down the interstate’s eastbound lanes for an extended period.
According to preliminary information released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:47 a.m. on I-40 in Madison County. The collision involved two commercial trucks, a Nissan Quest and a Honda Accord.
THP identified the deceased driver as Farahov Fhsvaisov, 35, of New York. Fhsvaisov was driving one of the commercial trucks involved in the collision.
Three other individuals were injured in the crash. Emergency officials reported two of the injured were airlifted from the scene to regional hospitals for treatment. Additional information concerning the identities and conditions of the injured had not been released.
The collision resulted in a large fire involving one of the semi-trucks. Images from the scene showed the commercial vehicle engulfed in flames and extensive damage to other vehicles involved in the crash.
Madison County Fire Department personnel described the wreck as an extremely serious and difficult scene as firefighters, emergency medical personnel, law enforcement officers, dispatchers and other responders worked for an extended period in extreme heat.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
THP’s preliminary findings released following the crash did not provide a detailed sequence of events leading to the collision or indicate whether charges are expected.
A complete THP crash report is generally available approximately seven days following a collision investigated by the agency.
