Fillies Advance to State Softball Championship Series

HUNTINGDON (May 17) — On Friday, the Huntingdon Fillies defeated the Summertown Lady Eagles 2-0 in the sectional series. The Fillies advance to TSSAA State Softball Championship Series.

Both teams were strong in the circle. Natalie Kreuziger pitched a complete game for Huntingdon, recording six strikeouts allowing three hits and one walk.

An RBI double by Kelby Crossno to center field put the Fillies on the board in the bottom of the second, Josey Stokes was created with the run.

In the fourth inning, Karter Moore made it to first on a single to center field. An erant pitch put Stokes on first. Moore and Stokes advanced bases following a sacrifice fly ball by Ava Ryan Canovan. Crossno added a second RBI on a sacrifice fly ball that brought Moore home for the final run of the game.

Crossno led the Fillies with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right fielder went 1-for-1 on the day. Adalyn Allen, Delaney Byars, Josey Stokes, Crossno, and Karter Moore each collected one hit for Huntingdon. The Fillies had no errors in the field.

The Fillies play in Murfreesboro on Tuesday, May 21 against Westmoreland at 3 p.m. at McKnight Park, field #3.
