Fillies are Runner-Up, Advance to Region Play

MARTIN (October 13) — Westview High School hosted Huntingdon Monday for the District 12A Soccer Championship. The host Lady Chargers claimed the title with a 9-0 win over the Fillies.

As the runner-up, Huntingdon will travel for the first round of the Region 6A tournament.

In the title game loss, Huntingdon goalkeeper Maddie Brinkman had 18 saves.

Following the championship game, district awards were presented.

The All-District Team includes: McKenzie's Kaydynce Barksdale, Bella Sass, Stephanie Padilla, Katelynn Essary, Alleigh Britt (Goalkeeper of the Year) and Ava Hastings (MVP); Huntingdon's Savannah Vinson, Kaki Dillahunty, Paisley Fosnot and Abbi Sykes (Offensive Player of the Year); and Westview's Ashlee Brent, Cambry Hatler, Maddie Horton, Hayden Markowski, Kella Simmons and Harper Jones (Defensive Player of the Year).

The District 12A Coach of the Year is McKenzie's Karlene Ellis.

The All-Tournament Team includes: McKenzie's Claire Kee, Addison Courtney and Syndey Rimmer; Huntingdon's Maddie Brinkman, Avery Todd, Emily Sykes and Madelynn Anderson; and Westview's Kaydance Papich, Chanler Spendlove, Edurne Martinez, Alyssa Williams and Tessa Anderson (MVP).

The All-Academic Team (seniors with a 3.0 GPA) includes: McKenzie's Sydney Rimmer, Katelynn Essary and Katlynn Hoffman; Huntingdon's Kaki Dillahunty and Emily Sykes; and Westview's Tessa Anderson, Maddie Horton, Harper Jones, Hayden Markowski and Chanler Spendlove.
