Fillies Cage Lady Lions, Mustangs Fall

HUNTINGDON (January 17) — Huntingdon High School hosted Camden Friday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Fillies pulled away in the third for a 59-36 victory, while the Lions had big advantages in the second and third quarters en route to a 94-73 win.

Huntingdon Fillies 59, Camden Lady Lions 36
The Fillies doubled up Camden 10-5 in the opening frame, led by Josey Stokes with six points, including a three-pointer. Sara Beth Smith scored four points. Lady Lion Bailey Berry scored four, and Addi Jo Melton hit a free throw.

Huntingdon had a 17-12 advantage in the second quarter. Delaney Byars, Quinn Kelley and Knox Bennett each had five points, Kelley with a three-pointer. Stokes added a pair. Abbi Grace Wallace scored five for Camden with a three. Emma Pierce had three points, and Berry and Melton each added a pair. At the half, Huntingdon led 27-17.

The Fillies pulled away with a 25-11 tilt in the third, led by Kelley with nine points on a trio of threes. Stokes scored seven with a three, and Smith had five points. Byars and Bennett each added a pair. Melton had four points for Camden, Wallace hit a three, and Berry and Miley Hartney each had a pair. Entering the final frame, the Fillies led 52-28.

The Lady Lions had an 8-7 edge in a quick fourth, led by Wallace with a three-pointer. Hartney and Ava Manes each had a pair, and Berry hit a freebie. Kelley hit another three-pointer for Huntingdon, and Byars and Stokes each added a pair.

Fillies Quinn Kelley and Josey Stokes led all scorers with 17 points each, Kelley with five three-pointers and Stokes with a pair of threes.

Abbi Grace Wallace led Camden with eleven points, including a trio of threes.

Lions 94, Mustangs 73
Camden had a 17-15 edge after the first frame, led by Aden Melton with 12 points, including a three. Nowah Porter also hit a three-pointer, and Isaac Moore had a pair. Mustang Kenton Smith scored five points. E.J. Lewis had four points, and Caleb Ezell, Braylin Dearmon and Bryson Whiteside each had a pair.

The Lions had a 31-18 advantage in the second quarter, led by Melton with 15 points, including a three. Jake Reynoldson scored nine with a three. Porter had four points with a three, and Gage Johnson hit a three. Smith led Huntingdon with six points. Dearmon scored four, and Lewis had three points. Ezell and Whiteside each added a pair, and Hayes Eubanks hit a free throw. At the half, the Lions led 48-33.

Camden enjoyed a 31-17 tilt in the third, led by Melton with 13 points. Porter scored ten with a pair of threes. Reynoldson had eight points, and Johnson added a pair. Ezell led the Mustangs with seven points, including a three-pointer. Smith scored six, and Lewis and Dearmon each added a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Lions led 79-50.

Huntingdon rallied 23-15 in the fourth for a closer final, led by Smith with eight points, including a three. Garvin Kee scored five with a three, and Owen Kreuziger also hit a three. Ezell, Dearmon and Kylen Turner each had a pair, and Lucas Smith hit a free throw. Melton led Camden with nine points. Jake Barker scored four, and Porter added a pair.

Lion Aden Melton led all scorers with 49 points, including a pair of threes. Nowah Porter scored 19 with four three-pointers, and Jake Reynoldson had 15 points with a three.

Kenton Smith led Huntingdon with 25 points, including a three. Caleb Ezell scored 13 with a three, and Braylin Dearmon had ten points.
