Fillies End Season with Extra-Inning Loss to Forrest
From the May 20, 2025 e-EditionCHAPEL HILL (May 16) — The Huntingdon Fillies ended their season Friday with a 6-5 loss in eight innings to Forrest High School in a Class 2A Softball Sectional.
Forrest advances to the state tournament.
The Lady Rockets struck first with a run in the bottom of the first. Huntingdon took the lead with three runs in the top of the fourth, but Forrest regained the lead with three in the fifth. The Fillies tied it in the sixth, and the score held at 4-4 through the seventh. Huntingdon took the lead with a run in the top of the eighth, but the Lady Rockets plated two in the home half to claim the win.
Huntingdon's Karter Moore was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a stolen base. Kylie Tippitt went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Delaney Byars was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Ellie Wilson went 1-for-3. Camden Sellers was 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
Emalynn Maness got the start for the Fillies, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out one and walking none in four innings. Bailey Cary threw three and a third innings of relief, allowing two earned runs on three hits and a walk.
