Fillies Fall to Patriots, 5-1

HUNTINGDON (April 1) — Huntingdon High School hosted Henry County Tuesday for non-district softball at Fillies Field, falling 5-1 to the Lady Patriots.
Henry County struck first with a run in the top of the first and added another in the second. They plated three in the fourth, and the Fillies got on the board with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Huntingdon’s Karter Moore was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Delaney Byars went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. Kylie Tippitt was 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
Lady Patriot Madaline Moroni was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Irelynn Beecham went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Andie Barrett was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Reed Jackson batted 2-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Layne Latimer hit 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Irelynn Beecham earned the complete-game win for Henry County, allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out eight and walking one.
Bailey Cary took the complete-game loss for the Fillies, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits while striking out two and walking none.
