Fillies Top Lady Rebels on Senior Night

HUNTINGDON (April 24) — Huntingdon High School softball hosted McKenzie Thursday and celebrated Senior Night. Five senior players and one manager were recognized on the field with family prior to the first pitch. The Fillies claimed an 8-5 win over the Lady Rebels.

Seniors recognized were Delaney Byars, daughter of Chad and Kim Byars; Karter Moore, daughter of James and Konstance Moore; Bailey Cary, daughter of Mark and Joyce Cary; Josey Stokes, daughter of Richard and Tracy Stokes; Chesney Baker, daughter of Burt and Shelly Baker; and Madeline Mitchell, daughter of Chris and Anna Mitchell.

The Fillies also took a moment to recognize Lady Rebel seniors Aubrey Jackson and Ady Freeman.

McKenzie struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Huntingdon tied it in the home half. The Fillies added a run each in the second and third, then scored two in the fourth. The Lady Rebels pulled within one run with three in the fifth, but Huntingdon plated two in the sixth.

Huntingdon's Kylie Tippitt was 4-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored and two stolen bases. Ellie Wilson was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored. Delaney Byars went 2-for-4 with an RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base. Camden Sellers batted 2-for-4 with a triple. Taylor Canovan and Chesney Baker were each 1-for-3. Josey Stokes went 0-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

Lady Rebel Carli Beeler was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Aurora Johnson went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Addison Milam was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Ady Freeman went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Bailey Cary got the start for the Fillies, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out eight and walking four in four and two-thirds innings. Emalynn Maness threw the final two and a third innings, allowing no runs, hits or walks.

Aurora Johnson took the complete-game loss for McKenzie, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 13 hits while striking out six and walking one.
