Fillies Win at McKenzie

McKENZIE (March 6) — The McKenzie High School Lady Rebels hosted Huntingdon Thursday for a chilly softball game. The visiting Fillies scored in each of the five innings played for a 12-2 win.

Huntingdon scored a run in each of the first two innings, then added three in the top of the third. The Lady Rebels scored a pair in the bottom of the third, but the Fillies plated four in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Huntingdon’s Bailey Cary was 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, four RBIs and a run scored. Delaney Byars was 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Taylor Canovan was 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Karter Moore was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Kylie Tippitt was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Josey Stokes was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ellie Wilson was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Lady Rebel Maggie Hall was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Kailie Hudgins was 1-for-2. Aubrey Jackson was 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored. Braylin Auvenshine was 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Bailey Cary earned the complete-game win for the Fillies, allowing two earned runs on two hits with six walks and five strikeouts in five innings.

Aurora Johnson took the complete-game loss for McKenzie, allowing 12 runs (six earned) on ten hits while walking five and striking out five over five innings.
