Fillies 2-0 as Christmas Tournament Hosts

HUNTINGDON (December 28) — Huntingdon Middle School hosted its annual Christmas tournament with three girls teams competing in a round-robin format Saturday.
The host Fillies finished the day undefeated with wins over the Beaver Lady Hornets and the Lakewood Lady Eagles.
The Hornets went 1-1 with a win over the Lady Eagles, who were 0-2.
Game 1:
Huntingdon Fillies 58, Beaver Lady Hornets 9
The Fillies stormed out to a 22-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Krystin Moore with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Courtlyn Brewer scored four points, and LaKeitha Cason, Kaylee Eatmon and Anderson Pearson each had a pair. Lady Hornets McKenna Nowell and Brelee Staten each hit a free throw.
Huntingdon had a 9-7 edge in the second quarter, led by Cason with three points. Eatmon, Pearson and Millie Luther each had a pair. Staten led Beaver with five points, and McKenzi Volner had a pair. At the half, Huntingdon led 31-9.
The Fillies shut out Beaver 19-0 in the third, led by Moore with nine points on a trio of threes. Brewer and Emma Smith each had three points. Vivian Singleton had a pair, and Cason and Eatmon each hit a freebie. Entering the final frame, the Fillies led 50-9.
Huntingdon blanked the Lady Hornets again in the fourth, 8-0. Collyns Wood scored four points, and Smith and Ella Atkins each had a pair.
The Fillies’ Krystin Moore led all scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers.
Brelee Staten led Beaver with six points.
Game 2:
Beaver Lady Hornets 36, Lakewood Lady Eagles 24
The Lady Hornets led 15-7 after the first frame and grew the lead with a 7-6 edge in the second quarter for a 22-13 score at the half.
Beaver doubled up Lakewood 12-6 in the third. The Lady Eagles rallied 5-2 in the fourth for a closer final.
Lady Hornet McKenna Nowell led all scorers with 21 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Brelee Staten scored eleven, Takiya Williams had three points, and Scarlett Carver hit a free throw.
Emma Hamlin led Lakewood with seven points. Anna Elliot scored five with a three, and Alexis Glatt had four points. Millie Brigham, Slate Trout, Kaylei Hepner and Presley Forrester each had a pair.
Game 3:
Fillies 43, Lady Eagles 16
Huntingdon had a 9-7 edge after the opening frame, led by Madelyn Anderson with five points, including a three-pointer. LaKeitha Cason and Wylie Kee each had a pair. Lady Eagle Alexis Glatt scored three points, and Emma Hamlin and Millie Brigham each had a pair.
The Fillies pulled away with a 14-5 advantage in the second quarter, led by Anderson with four points. Cason, Kee, Krystin Moore, Kaylee Eatmon and Courtlyn Brewer each had a pair. Glatt led Lakewood with three points, and Mary Beth Hutson had a pair. At the half, the Fillies led 23-12.
Huntingdon enjoyed an 18-2 tilt in the third, led by Eatmon with five points. Kee and Millie Luther each scored four. Moore and Brewer each added a pair, and Emma Smith hit a free throw. Glatt had Lakewood’s lone pair. Entering the final frame, the Fillies led 41-14.
The fourth quarter was a quick 2-2 wash. Brewer scored for Huntingdon and Hutson for Lakewood.
Huntingdon’s Madelyn Anderson led all scorers with nine points. Wylie Kee scored eight.
Alexis Glatt led the Lady Eagles with eight points.
