McKENZIE (November 7) — Gerdau Metals Recycling recently marked one year since the multinational corporation purchased Dale’s Recycling. A “grand reopening” celebration for staff and customers was held Friday.

On November 1, 2024, Gerdau, a global steel producer, acquired Dale’s, which included ten locations in the region.

Dale’s Recycling was founded in Trezevant in 1984 and expanded over the years before the purchase.

Ken Weatherford, location manager at McKenzie and Trezevant, is the brother-in-law of Dale’s founder Roger Dale Nelson, and has worked for the recycling facility for many years. He told The Banner that Gerdau’s goal was to continue the same level of service that Dale’s had provided for so many years.

He said that, after safety, which “comes first,” the business prioritizes community outreach.

He noted that they donate junk cars to different entities such as fire departments and rescue squads for practicing life-saving skills and such as Bethel University for various activities.

At Friday’s celebration, customers and staff enjoyed hot dogs off the grill, refreshments and fellowship.

Gerdau Metals Recycling is located at 1336 Bell Store Road is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
