Gleason 'Happy Birthday America' Celebration Hampered by Storms
From the Jul 7, 2026 e-Edition
GLEASON (July 3) — A "Happy Birthday America" celebration Friday night in downtown Gleason was disrupted by heavy rain and wind.
The storm moved in just minutes before a planned parade, which was canceled, along with some of the live entertainment and fireworks.
Spirits weren't dampened, though. After the worst of the weather passed, some vendors and food trucks reopened, and Weakley County-based band Magnolia Avenue performed an eclectic set of classic rock and country.
