Gleason Loses Homecoming Game

Gleason (September 5) — Hillcrest Hornets of Springfield, Missouri, claimed a 42-16 victory over Gleason Junior High’s Bulldog in the Homecoming game.
Following the pre-game festivities honoring eighth graders, the queen and court, and cheerleaders, the contest remained close into a second-half explosion of big plays by the visiting Hornets.
Gleason was the first to add points with a TD by Colton Phillips and a two-point conversion by Cooper Sawyers to make the score 8-0.
Hillcrest added their first score with a pass to Riley Quillons. The two-point conversion failed.
Hillcrest made the go-ahead score with a touchdown early in the second quarter to make the score 12-8.
A second-half opening kickoff by Colton Phillips was mishandled by Hillcrest, resulting in a Gleason recovery. On big plays by Sawyers, Conner Ballew, Kaylor Pineda, the Bulldogs scored on a Ballew carry of 19 yards. He added the two-point conversion for the final score for the home team, making the score 16-12.
Hillcrest dominated the remainder of the contest with a final score of 42-16.
