Gleason Splits with South Fulton

GLEASON (January 17) — Gleason High School hosted South Fulton Friday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady Bulldogs ran away with a 54-10 victory, while the Red Devils rallied late to force overtime and earn a 63-62 win.

Lady Bulldogs 54, Lady Red Devils 10
The Lady Bulldogs had a 10-4 lead after the opening frame, led by Skylar Arnold with five points. Hylan Leach hit a three-pointer, and Brinley Lehmkuhl had a pair. Abbi Bivens had all four South Fulton points.

Gleason pulled away with an 18-2 advantage in the second quarter, led by Addy Black with six points on a pair of threes. Leach hit another three, and Ahmyre Allen also scored three points. Arnold, Madi Dean and Ava Bennett each had a pair. Lady Red Devil Reagan Johnson scored two points. At the half, Gleason led 28-6.

The Lady Bulldogs blanked South Fulton 16-0 in the third, led by Allen with seven points, including a three-pointer. Leach scored five with a three, and Arnold had four points. Entering the final frame, the Lady Bulldogs led 44-6.

Gleason capped the win with a 10-4 tilt in a quick fourth, led by Black and Karlie Wilson, each with a three-pointer.

Lady Bulldogs Hylan Leach and Skylar Arnold led all scorers with eleven points each, Leach with a trio of threes. Ahmyre Allen scored ten with a three, and Addy Black had nine points on a trio of three-pointers.

Red Devils 63, Bulldogs 62 (OT)
Gleason led 14-10 after the first frame, led by Drake Lehmkuhl with six points, including a three-pointer. Brody Sanders scored four, and Kade Sawyers and Owen Taylor each had a pair. Red Devils Brady McFarland and Charlie Mike Mulcahy each scored four, and Conner O’Neal had a pair.

South Fulton had a 14-11 edge in the second quarter, led by Mulcahy with six points. Clark Rice hit a three, and Carson Choate also scored three points. McFarland added a pair. Sawyers led Gleason with seven points. Ashton Morgan and C.J. Reed each had a pair. At the half, Gleason led 25-24.

The Bulldogs enjoyed a 16-11 tilt in the third, led by Sawyers with five points. Lehmkuhl scored four, and A. Morgan had three points. Taylor and Parker Morgan each had a pair. Mulcahy scored five for South Fulton, McFarland had four points, and Choate added a pair. Heading into the final frame of regulation, Gleason led 41-35.

The Red Devils rallied 22-16 in the fourth to force overtime, led by McFarland with eleven points, including a three. Rice and O’Neal each hit a three, and Mulcahy also scored three points. Jayden Wilder had a pair. Sawyers and P. Morgan each scored six for Gleason, Morgan on a pair of three-pointers. A. Morgan and Lehmkuhl each added a pair. At the end of regulation, the game was knotted at 57-57.

South Fulton took the win with a 6-5 edge in overtime, led by Wilder with four points. Mulcahy added a pair. Lehmkuhl scored three points for Gleason, and Sawyers added a pair.

Bulldog Kade Sawyers led all scorers with 22 points. Drake Lehmkuhl scored 15 with a three-pointer.
