Gleason Sweeps Central

GLEASON (November 25) — Gleason High School hosted Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Bulldogs pulled away in the third quarter and held off a Lady Tiger rally for a 46-35 win. The Bulldogs stormed out to a big lead and coasted to a 74-37 victory.

Gleason Lady Bulldogs 46, Central Lady Tigers 35

The Lady Bulldogs had a 9-4 lead after the opening frame, led by Hylan Leach with a three-pointer. Ahmyre Allen, Ava Bennett and Karlie Wilson each had a pair. Lady Tigers Olivia Scott and McKenzye Castleman each scored two points.

Gleason had a 10-8 edge in the second quarter, led by Leach with six points, including a three-pointer. Bennett and Brinley Lehmkuhl each had a pair. Makayla Bass scored five for Central, and Lilly McGee hit a three. At the half, Gleason led 19-12.

The Lady Bulldogs pulled away with a 19-9 advantage in the third, led by Allen with ten points. Leach scored seven with another three-pointer. Wilson and Kadence Witherspoon each hit a free throw. McGee, Castleman, Emy Olds and Ava Finley each had a pair for Central, and Scott hit a freebie. Entering the final frame, Gleason led 38-21.

A Lady Tiger rally in the fourth came up short at 14-8, led by Castleman and Alayah Hill with four points each. Olds and Finley each hit a three. Allen scored five for Gleason, including a three. Wilson added a pair, and Bennett hit a free throw.

Lady Bulldog Ahmyre Allen led all scorers with 17 points, including a three-pointer. Hylan Leach scored 16 with a trio of threes.

McKenzye Castleman led Central with eight points.

Bulldogs 74, Tigers 37

Gleason jumped out to an 18-2 lead after the first frame, led by Drake Lehmkuhl with seven points, including a pair of threes. Kade Sawyers, Parker Morgan and Brock Dilday each hit a three-pointer. Miami Woolridge had a pair. Sal Sala scored Central’s two points.

The Bulldogs had a 16-15 edge in the second quarter, led by Sawyers and Dilday with five points each, each with a three-pointer. Lehmkuhl also hit a three, Woolridge added a pair, and C.J. Reed hit a free throw. Parker Finley led the Tigers with five points, including a three. Junah Smith hit a three-pointer, and Nic King also scored three points. Brady Roberts and Liam Piersol each had a pair. At the half, the Bulldogs led 34-17.

Gleason pulled away with a 35-13 tilt in the third, led by Sawyers and Lehmkuhl, both with eight points, each with a pair of threes. Ashton Morgan scored seven, also with a three-pointer. Brody Sanders had five points. Woolridge hit a three, and P. Morgan and Dilday each added a pair. King led Central with six points, including a three. Smith also hit a three, and Parker Boyd and Finley each had a pair. Heading into the final frame, Gleason led 69-30.

Central had a 7-5 edge in the fourth, led by Gage Weatherly with four points. Finley hit a three-pointer. Brycen Cooper scored all five Bulldog points, including a three-pointer.

Gleason’s Drake Lehmkuhl led all scorers with 18 points, including five threes. Kade Sawyers scored 16 with four three-pointers. Brock Dilday had ten points with a pair of threes.

Parker Finley led the Tigers with ten points, including a pair of threes. Nic King scored nine with a three-pointer.
