Gleason Sweeps South Fulton on Senior Night

GLEASON (February 13) — Gleason High School hosted South Fulton Friday for a pair of district basketball games. The Lady Bulldogs pulled away in the second quarter for a 51-27 win. The Bulldogs also built a big lead early but had to hold off a late Red Devil rally to secure a 78-64 victory.
It was Senior Night for Gleason, and 12 seniors were recognized between games. (See separate story.)
Gleason Lady Bulldogs 51, South Fulton Lady Red Devils 27
The Lady Bulldogs had a 10-6 lead after the opening frame, led by Ahmyre Allen with eight points, including a three-pointer. Karlie Wilson had a pair. Lady Red Devil Caroline Barclay hit a three, and Alli McFarland also scored three points.
Gleason pulled away 15-6 in the second quarter, led by Allen with 13 points, including a trio of threes. Ava Bennett had a pair. McFarland scored four for South Fulton, and Barclay added a pair. At the half, Gleason led 25-12.
The Lady Bulldogs had a 19-7 advantage in the third, led by Madi Dean with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. Allen and Hylan Leach each scored four points, and Wilson hit a three. McFarland led the Lady Red Devils with four points. Pilar Esteban had a pair, and Destiny McGuire hit a free throw. Entering the final frame, Gleason led 44-19.
South Fulton had an 8-7 edge in the fourth, led by McFarland with seven points. Lili Martin hit a free throw. Leach hit a three for Gleason, and Allen and Brylee Robertson each had a pair.
Lady Bulldog Ahmyre Allen led all scorers with 27 points, including four three-pointers.
Alli McFarland led South Fulton with 18 points.
Bulldogs 78, Red Devils 64
Gleason doubled up South Fulton, 24-12, in the first frame, led by Drake Lehmkuhl with nine points, including a three-pointer. Brody Sanders scored eight. Kade Sawyers had six points, and Miami Woolridge hit a free throw. Red Devils Grant Joyner and Charles Mulcahy each scored four points, and Trevor Stunson and Carson Choate each had a pair.
The second quarter was a 15-15 wash. Sawyers led the Bulldogs with six points. Lehmkuhl scored four. Ashton Morgan had three points, and Woolridge added a pair. Mulcahy led South Fulton with four points. Stunson hit a three-pointer, and Choate and Jakob Cooley each scored three points. Joyner added a pair. At the half, Gleason led 39-27.
The Bulldogs had a 22-13 advantage in the third, led by Lehmkuhl with eleven points, including a three. Woolridge scored eight with a pair of threes, and Parker Morgan hit a three-pointer. Mulcahy scored six for South Fulton. Clark Rice had five points with a three, and Joyner added a pair. Heading into the final frame, Gleason led 61-40.
A Red Devil rally in the fourth came up short at 24-17, led by Rice with six points on a pair of threes. Joyner scored five with a three, and Mulcahy had three points. Cooley, Gavin Dixon, Gage Hancock, Evan Williams and Andrew Bradley each had a pair. Lehmkuhl scored six for Gleason on a pair of threes. Brock Dilday had five points with a three-pointer. Sanders scored four, and Sawyers added a pair.
Bulldog Drake Lehmkuhl led all scorers with 30 points, including four three-pointers. Kade Sawyers scored 14, and Brody Sanders had 12 points. Miami Woolridge scored 11 with a pair of threes.
Charles Mulcahy led South Fulton with 17 points. Grant Joyner scored 13 with a three, and Clark Rice had 11 points with a trio of threes.
