Glenn Franklin Sacks, 83, formerly of McKenzie, Tennessee, and Mount Dora, Florida, died peacefully at his home in Humboldt, surrounded by the love of his family.
Memorial service is Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the funeral home at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m.
Born on August 27, 1942, in City of Orange Township/Essex, New Jersey, to Oscar and Dorothy Sacks, Glenn spent his early years along the New Jersey shore. He had a lifelong appreciation for the ocean, community involvement, and hard work. Glenn was a member of the Essex Lodge #7 Masonic Lodge – Master Mason and The Valley of Northern New Jersey Scottish Rite (member since 1967), and dedicated many years of service, including raising up his father in the Masonic Lodge.
On June 19, 1971, Glenn married the love of his life, Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Sacks of Avenel, New Jersey. Together, they built a life grounded in love, family, and community service. Their journey took them from New Jersey to Little Rock, Arkansas, where they owned and operated American Handicrafts, and later to McKenzie, Tennessee, where they managed the Trevathan Insurance Agency. Glenn also worked for SLS Arts in Metairie, Louisiana, and later retired from Lowe’s of Mount Dora, Florida, in April 2023.
Glenn and Kathy welcomed their beloved daughter, Dawn Christine, on September 12, 1975. Family was always at the center of Glenn’s life, and he took immense pride in supporting and celebrating their accomplishments, especially completing his Master of Business Administration from Bethel University at the same time as Dawn.
A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of McKenzie, Glenn gave freely of his time and energy to numerous community organizations. He was a former member of the McKenzie Lions Club, a dedicated volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program of the First United Methodist Church, and a strong supporter of Bethel University. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to serve others left a lasting mark on those who knew him.
Glenn loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and relaxing near the water. He will be remembered as a hardworking man, a loyal friend, and above all, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a loving fur dad to Benny.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy Sacks; daughter Dawn (Tim) Hart of Jackson, Tennessee; grandchildren Tyler (Morgan) Duke of Johnson City, TN; Spencer Hart of Dewitt, MI; Taylor Duke of Humboldt, TN; and Aniston Hart of Spring Hill, TN; sister-in-law Mary Lynn Bersey of Venice, FL; Freddie Duke of Huntingdon, TN, and special family friend, Preshis Avalos of Beech Bluff, TN.
Glenn’s life was one of service, love, and dedication—a true example of living with purpose and compassion. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched.
The family of Glenn Sacks would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to all of those at Gentiva Hospice: Mia, Nkeshia, Katie, and Dana for the care that they provided during his illness. +
