ATWOOD — West Carroll Primary School welcomed special visitors to the classroom during Grandparents Week, held September 16-18. The event, hosted for the first time in several years, provided an opportunity for K-2 students to share part of their school day with family members.

Over the three-day celebration, grandparents visited classrooms and joined their grandchildren in activities and crafts. The event highlighted the important role grandparents play in supporting children’s growth at home, in the community and at school.

“This event was a wonderful way to connect our students’ families with the learning happening

in the classroom,” said Malorie Jo Watkins, West Carroll Primary teacher. “The students were so proud to share their school with their grandparents, and it meant a lot to see the smiles and interactions throughout the week.”

School leaders expressed appreciation for the strong turnout, noting that the event reflects the district’s commitment to family involvement and community partnerships. With West Carroll’s small-school atmosphere, these connections are a meaningful part of the student experience.
