TREZEVANT (August 15) — On Friday afternoon, a semitruck owned by Arlie Rains of Marion, Arkansas, pulling a sprint car trailer, became lodged on a railroad crossing on Highway 105. The trailer was struck by a CSX train.

The driver was able to get out safely before the train made impact. No injuries reported.

The trailer was demolished, and parts of the sprint car were scattered on both sides of the train.

Later in the afternoon, a second hauler also got stuck on the tracks in Atwood.

On Monday, August 18, according to CSX, the crossing at Main St. and Park St. in Trezevant will be closed until either Wednesday, August 20, or Thursday, August 21, due to the railroad crossing being out of service at this time.

CSX provides a contact number for railroad emergencies, like blockages or potential hazards.

This number SHOULD NOT replace contacting 911 for life-threatening emergencies.

From the CSX website: To Report a Railroad Emergency: 1-800-232-0144

Any issue or incident that risks the safety of any person should be reported immediately. Be prepared to tell us your name, location, and what you observed.
