Henry County to Hold Mass Casualty Training Exercise
From the Oct 15, 2024 e-EditionPARIS (October 14) — On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, West Tennessee Healthcare-Henry County Hospital, in coordination with Henry County Emergency Management Agency will conduct a full-scale mass casualty incident (MCI) training exercise.
The goal is to prepare on how to respond to such an incident. All participating agencies will use this goal to improve communication, evaluate capacities of a large-scale event, and provide an opportunity for the hospital and emergency responders vital training for a real mass casualty incident in a safe and controlled environment.
This exercise will begin at 8 a.m. It will last an estimated two hours.
Local nursing students will act as role players in this scenario to simulate realistic issues and opportunities for improvement that responders would not have during a real incident.
This training exercise event will include the following response agencies: West Tennessee Healthcare- Henry County Hospital; Henry County Emergency Management Agency; Henry County Emergency Medical Services-AMR; Henry County 911 Dispatch; Henry County Sheriff Department; Henry County Rescue Squad; Henry County School System; Henry County Health and Rehabilitation; City of Paris Police Department; City of Paris Fire Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol
This simulation is for responder training purposes only. This scenario includes a simulated Henry County Schools bus crash. For this training we will be using a bus provided by the Henry County School System. We have taken multiple safety precautions to keep all participants and responders safe. Again, this simulated bus crash is a mock drill for training purposes.
