High-Speed Multi-Agency Chase Ends in Head-On Collision on Huntingdon Court Square

HUNTINGDON — A dramatic multi-agency police pursuit spanning several law enforcement jurisdictions ended Wednesday night after a suspect vehicle sped through Huntingdon at over 120 mph and slammed head-on into a civilian motorist on the town’s Court Square.

According to a report filed by Huntingdon Police Officer Daniel Inman, the incident began around 8:54 p.m. on Aug. 19, when local authorities were alerted that a black 2026 Nissan Pathfinder with temporary tags was fleeing law enforcement. The driver, identified as Kristopher Isabell, had previously evaded both the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies while speeding toward Huntingdon along Highway 70/West Main Street.

Carroll County deputies attempted a spike-strip roadblock near the gas station in the Leach community in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle, but the deployment failed. Officers then fell into pursuit as Isabell continued toward town, weaving past traffic at extreme speeds.

As the chase neared the Huntingdon city limits near Sunny Slope Hill, radar clocked the Pathfinder at 125 mph. Isabell continued to rocket down West Main Street, blowing through the Veterans Drive intersection at roughly 115 mph. Shortly after passing the intersection, Isabell momentarily lost control of the vehicle, but regained traction and drove directly into the Huntingdon Court Square.

Upon reaching the square, Isabell turned left into the roundabout—driving against the designated one-way traffic—and struck an oncoming civilian vehicle driven by Katherine White head-on.

Following the crash, officers from the Huntingdon Police Department drew their duty weapons and ordered the occupants out. When attempts to shatter the Pathfinder’s windows failed, officers moved in as the passenger door opened. Inman attempted to apprehend Isabell, who actively fought and resisted officers. The struggle ended after a Huntingdon officer deployed a Taser, striking Isabell in the back with four probes and allowing officers to place him in handcuffs.

Despite the extreme speeds and the head-on crash, emergency responders reported no injuries at the scene among Isabell, his passenger, or White.
