Huntingdon Routs Camden on Senior Night, 42-8

HUNTINGDON (October 25) — Huntingdon hosted Camden Friday for a region football contest. The Mustangs scored early and often to claim a 42-8 victory.
It was Senior Night at Paul Ward Stadium. Prior to kickoff, senior football players, managers, cheerleaders, band members and AB Club members were recognized on the field, joined by parents and other family members.
Senior football players are Quennell Leavitt, Gabe Smothers, Gray Eubanks, Wesley Williams, Brady Warbritton, Aiden Hilliard, Easton Byars, Braylon Rich, Dante Pearson and Rayshawn Parker.
Senior football managers are Evan Blakeman, Cayden Brewer and Carter Coleman.
Senior cheerleaders are Kansas Barnhill, Grace Smothers and Emily Tippitt.
Senior band members are Addison Chasse, Brianna Gilbert, Amelia Yeager and Allie Jones.
Senior AB Club members are Chesney Baker, Lainey Bales, Mackenzie Dunbar, Alayla Johnson, Tylan Johnson, Kaley Ruffell, Lillian Sanders, Sara Beth Smith, Cayden Brewer and Addison Chasse.
Huntingdon won the coin toss and received the opening kick.
Starting at their 35, Mustangs Gray Eubanks and Brady Warbritton each made a short gain, then Camden jumped offside to move the chains. Two plays later, facing third-and-nine, Eubanks threw to Easton Byars for eleven yards. Aiden Hilliard ran for seven, then Eubanks threw to Warbritton for a 36-yard touchdown. Camden blocked the PAT, and Huntingdon led 6-0 with nine minutes remaining in the first frame.
The Lions went three-and-out after a third-down stop by Mustang Broox Bennett for a nine-yard loss. The Camden punt was downed near midfield.
Eubanks and Warbritton kept it on the ground for a seven-play, 52-yard drive. Warbritton got the last touch for a 17-yard score. Eubanks threw to Warbritton for the two-point conversion, and Huntingdon led 14-0 with 2:32 left in the first.
Camden started at their 31 and put together a strong drive, earning four first downs with mostly short passes as the game moved into the second quarter. On third-and-goal at the 1, the Lions fumbled. Mustang Dante Pearson made the recovery at the 3.
Eubanks gained a yard, then Hilliard was stopped for no gain. On third-and-nine, Warbritton broke loose for a 96-yard touchdown. Greyson Anderson kicked the PAT, and the Mustangs led 21-0 with under six minutes to play in the first half.
Camden went three-and-out again, and the punt was downed at the Lion 44.
A big run by Warbritton coupled with a Camden penalty gave Huntingdon a first down at the 30, where Tyreke Hutch took it to the house. Anderson’s PAT made the Mustang lead 28-0 with three minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Two plays into Camden’s drive, Mustang Wesley Williams intercepted a pass near midfield and returned it to the 26.
Three runs by Warbritton, Eubanks and Hilliard moved the chains. Eubanks had a touchdown negated by a penalty, but then threw to Hutch for a 14-yard touchdown. Anderson kicked, and Huntingdon led 35-0 with 30 seconds left before intermission.
The Lions ran five plays and advanced the ball to midfield before time expired.
Camden received the second-half kickoff, but went three-and-out. The punt gave the Mustangs possession near midfield.
Huntingdon managed a first down, but then stalled and punted.
The Lions went three-and-out, punting on the final play of the third quarter.
Hilliard ran three times, then Eubanks scored from two yards out. Anderson kicked the PAT, and the Mustangs led 42-0 with nine minutes remaining in the game.
Camden got on the board with a second-down pass from Jake Reynoldson to Issac Moore for 81 yards. A successful two-point conversion made it 42-8 with five minutes left.
The Mustangs ran out the clock on four plays to seal the win.
Huntingdon concludes the regular season Thursday with a consequential region game against Peabody in Trenton. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
