Huntingdon Earns Road Sweep at Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG (January 7) — Clarksburg High School hosted Huntingdon Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. The Fillies jumped out to an early lead and coasted to a 76-29 win. The Rockets kept it close in the first half, but the Mustangs pulled away in the third quarter en route to an 82-39 victory.
Huntingdon Fillies 76, Clarksburg Lady Rockets 29
The Fillies stormed out to a 28-9 lead after the opening frame, led by Quinn Kelley with ten points, including a pair of three-pointers. Sara Beth Smith scored seven, and Josey Stokes had five with a three. Knox Bennett scored four points, also with a three-pointer, and Delaney Byars had a pair. Sam Segraves scored all nine Clarksburg points, including a three-pointer.
Huntingdon had a 22-3 advantage in the second quarter, led by Byars with eight points. Claire Cary scored six on a pair of threes, and Smith had four points. Kelley hit another three, and Stokes hit a free throw. Segraves added a pair for the Lady Rockets, and Brooklyn Laws hit a free throw. At the half, Huntingdon led 50-12.
Clarksburg had a 17-16 edge in the third, led by Segraves with six points. Addison Milam and Maleigha Abdallah each scored five, Milam with a three-pointer. Laws hit another freebie. Emalynn Maness led the Fillies with five points, including a three. Kaylen Cary scored four, and Grier Bartholomew hit a three. Camdyn Sellers and Ellie Wilson each had a pair. Entering the final frame, Huntingdon led 66-29.
The Fillies shut out Clarksburg 10-0 in a quick fourth, led by Wilson with four points. Tatum Rich scored three, Maness added a pair, and Bartholomew hit a free throw.
Lady Rocket Sam Segraves led all scorers with 17 points, including a three-pointer.
Quinn Kelley led Huntingdon with 13 points, including a trio of threes. Sara Beth Smith scored eleven, and Delaney Byars had ten points.
Mustangs 82, Rockets 39
Huntingdon led 22-15 after the first frame, led by Kenton Smith with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Caleb Ezell hit a three, and Bryson Whiteside also scored three points. Braylin Dearmon and Kelton Johnson each had a pair. Jake Miller led Clarksburg with five points. Trae Cobb and Chase Hollingshead each scored four, and Kannan Hampton had a pair.
The Mustangs had a 20-16 edge in the second quarter, led by Smith with eleven points, including a three-pointer. Ezell scored five with a three, and Dearmon and Johnson each added a pair. Rocket Clay Glosson scored eight points. Ritchie Lewis hit a three, and Erin Dickson also scored three points. Cobb added a pair. At the half, the Mustangs led 42-31.
Huntingdon pulled away with a 28-5 advantage in the third, led by Smith with 14 points, including a pair of threes. Hayes Eubanks scored five, and Dearmon had four points. Johnson and Tyreke Hutch each had a pair. Rocket Reagan Halter hit a three-pointer, and Miller added a pair. Heading into the final frame, Huntingdon led 70-36.
The Mustangs closed out the win with a 12-3 tilt in the fourth, led by Owen Kreuziger with four points. Garvin Kee, Zayden Connelly, Kylen Turner and Owen King each had a pair. Hollingshead added a pair for Clarksburg, and Weston Vestal hit a free throw.
Mustang Kenton Smith led all scorers with 38 points, including five three-pointers. Caleb Ezell and Braylin Dearmon scored eight points each, Ezell with a pair of threes.
Clay Glosson led Clarksburg with eight points. Jake Miller scored seven.
