Huntingdon Sweeps Clarksburg

HUNTINGDON (December 17) — Huntingdon High School hosted Clarksburg Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. The home teams swept the visitors in dominant fashion. The Fillies earned a 93-23 win while the Mustangs won 85-46.
Huntingdon Fillies 93, Clarksburg Lady Rockets 23
The Fillies stormed out to a 41-10 lead after the opening frame, led by Quinn Kelley with 14 points, including four three-pointers. Josey Stokes scored eleven with a trio of threes. Delaney Byars had seven points with a three, Sara Beth Smith scored six, and Claire Cary hit a three-pointer. Lady Rocket Sam Segraves scored five with a three. Carlie Swinford also hit a three, and Makenna Bolen had a pair.
Huntingdon had a 26-4 advantage in the second quarter, led by Knox Bennett with 19 points, including four three-pointers. Smith, Camdyn Sellers and Emalyn Maness each had a pair, and Grier Bartholomew hit a free throw. Segraves added a pair for Clarksburg, and Molly Kate Williams and Cari Glosson each hit a free throw. At the half, Huntingdon led 67-14.
The Fillies enjoyed a 19-4 tilt in the third, led by Bartholomew with nine points on a trio of threes. Maness had six on a pair of threes, and Bennett scored four with a three-pointer. Segraves had all four Lady Rocket points. Entering the final frame, the Fillies led 86-18.
Huntingdon capped the win with a 7-5 edge in a quick fourth, led by Kaylen Cary with four points. Ellie Wilson scored three. Lady Rocket Briley Crum scored four, and Glosson hit a free throw.
Huntingdon’s Knox Bennett led all scorers with 23 points, including five three-pointers. Quinn Kelley scored 14 with four threes. Josey Stokes had eleven with a trio of three-pointers. Grier Bartholomew scored ten points, also with three threes.
Sam Segraves led Clarksburg with eleven points, including a three.
Mustangs 85, Rockets 46
Huntingdon jumped out to a 27-9 lead after the first frame, led by Caleb Ezell with nine points on a trio of threes. Braylin Dearmon had seven points, and EJ Lewis scored five with a three-pointer. Kelton Johnson, Tyreke Hutch and Hayes Eubanks each had a pair. Rockets Trae Cobb, Garrett Bartholomew, Chase Hollingshead and Deagan Halter each had a pair, and Gabriel Derryberry hit a free throw.
The Mustangs had a 23-15 advantage in the second quarter, led by Ezell with eight points, including a pair of threes. Bryson Whiteside scored four, and Zayden Connelly hit a three. Lewis, Dearmon, Johnson and Garvin Kee each had a pair. Cobb and Clay Glossom each scored four for Clarksburg. Erin Dickson, Nathan Steele and Ritchie Lewis each had a pair, and Hollingshead hit a free throw. At the half, the Mustangs led 50-24.
Huntingdon had a 29-22 edge in the third, led by Johnson and Eubanks with five points each. EJ Lewis and Kylen Turner each scored four. Ezell had three points. Whiteside, Kee, Lucas Smith and Owen Kreuziger each had a pair. Rocket Jake Miller scored seven points, and Kannon Hampton had six on a pair of threes. Dickson scored four, Cobb had three points, and Derryberry added a pair. Heading into the final frame, Huntingdon led 79-46.
The Mustangs blanked the Rockets 6-0 in a quick fourth quarter. Kreuziger, Jeramyah Cannon and Shiloh Goble each had a pair.
Mustang Caleb Ezell led all scorers with 20 points, including five three-pointers. EJ Lewis scored eleven with a three.
Trae Cobb led Clarksburg with nine points.
