Huntingdon Sweeps McKenzie

McKENZIE (October 21) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Huntingdon Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests, their first home games of the season. The Fillies pulled away early en route to a 57-15 win. The Rebels stayed within reach until late, when the Mustangs pulled away for a 47-33 victory.
Huntingdon Fillies 57, McKenzie Lady Rebels 15
The Fillies set the tone with a 17-3 advantage in the opening frame, led by LaKeitha Cason and Anderson Pearson with six points each. Kaylee Eatmon had a pair, and Ella Atkins, June Dillahunty and Vivian Singleton each hit a free throw. Charlie Cassidy had a pair for the Lady Rebels, and Kristy Towne hit a freebie.
Huntingdon grew the lead with a 20-2 tilt in the second quarter, led by Dillahunty with six points on a pair of three-pointers. Atkins scored five, Cason and Eatmon each had four points, and Shylo Umstead hit a free throw. Serenity Bobo had McKenzie's two points. At the half, the Fillies led 37-5.
The Fillies outscored McKenzie 18-7 in the third, led by Dillahunty with six, again on a pair of threes. Eatmon scored four, and Cason, Atkins, Collyns Wood and Emma Smith each had a pair. Abby Carroll led the Lady Rebels with three points, and Cassidy and Bobo each added a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Fillies led 55-12.
McKenzie cut the final deficit with a 3-2 edge in a quick fourth. Carroll had a pair, and Willow Stenberg hit a free throw. Dillahunty had the Fillies' pair.
Huntingdon's June Dillahunty led all scorers with 15 points, including four three-pointers. LaKeitha Cason scored a dozen, and Kaylee Eatmon had ten points.
Abby Carroll led the Lady Rebels with five points. Charlie Cassidy and Serenity Bobo each scored four.
Mustangs 47, Rebels 33
The Mustangs took the first quarter, 12-7. Noah Webb led with seven points. Both Jake Harris and Derius Pratcher each had two points. Lane Brown led the Rebels with five free throw shots. Fisher Allen and Navadius Owens each hit a free throw.
Huntington ended the second quarter with a 20-13 lead, led by Hayden Weathers with three two-pointers, and Webb with one two-point shot. Seth Stafford led McKenzie with a two-point shot and a free throw. Lane Brown had a pair of free throws.
Mustangs kept the lead with a score of 31-25 at the end of the third. Patcher had a pair of twos and two free throws, and Webb had two two-pointers. Stafford led the Rebels with a pair of threes and a free throw. Brown and Jackson Barden each hit two free throws.
McKenzie kept the game close in the final quarter, but Huntington took the win 47-33. Weathers scored eight, including two threes and two free throws. Webb and Strayhorn both shot a pair.
Hayden Weathers led all scorers for Huntington with 16 points, Noah Webb had 15 points and Derius Pratcher scored nine.
Seth Stafford led the Rebels with 16 points, including a pair of threes, and Lane Brown shot for 11 points.
