Huntingdon Sweeps McKenzie

HUNTINGDON (November 11) — Huntingdon Middle School hosted McKenzie Tuesday at Huntingdon High School for a pair of basketball contests. The Fillies were in control from the jump for a 44-6 win. The Mustangs dominated the first half and cruised to a 47-19 victory.
Huntingdon Fillies 44, McKenzie Lady Rebels 6
The Fillies jumped out to a 21-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Kaylee Eatmon with six points. LaKeitha Cason and June Dillahunty each scored five, each with a three-pointer. Ella Atkins also hit a three, and Vivian Singleton had a pair. Kristy Towne had a pair for McKenzie.
Huntingdon shut out the Lady Rebels in the second quarter, 11-0, led by Emma Smith with five points. Atkins and Anderson Pearson each hit a three-pointer. At the half, Huntingdon led 32-2.
The Fillies blanked McKenzie again in the third, 10-0, led by Ava Martin with a three-pointer and Tinley Johnson also with three points. Atkins and Cason each added a pair. Entering the final frame, the Fillies led 42-2.
The Lady Rebels had a 4-2 edge in a quick fourth on two buckets by Towne. B. Hays had a pair for Huntingdon.
Filly Ella Atkins led all scorers with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. LaKeitha Cason scored seven with a three, and Kaylee Eatmon had six points.
Kristy Towne scored all six McKenzie points.
Mustangs 47, Rebels 19
Huntingdon shut out McKenzie 16-0 in the first frame, led by Noah Webb with eight points. Darius Pratcher scored four, and Hayden Weathers and Jake Harris each had a pair.
The Mustangs had a 10-4 advantage in the second quarter, led by Pratcher with four points. Weathers hit a three-pointer, and Webb also scored three points. Rebels Jackson Barden and Thomas Howard each had a pair. At the half, the Mustangs led 26-4.
Huntingdon enjoyed an 11-7 tilt in the third, led by Pratcher with four points. Weathers scored three points, and Webb and Davoy Strayhorn each had a pair. Rebel Lane Brown scored three points. Barden added a pair, and Fisher Allen and Dierks Ghyers each hit a free throw. Heading into the final frame, Huntingdon led 37-11.
The Mustangs sealed the win with a 10-8 edge in the fourth, led by Case Raines and Ivan King with four points each. Raygen Dunbar had a pair. Rebel Kamden Lee scored four points, and Howard and Navadius Owens each had a pair.
Mustang Noah Webb led all scorers with 13 points. Darius Pratcher scored a dozen. Hayden Weathers had eight points, including a three-pointer.
Jackson Barden, Kamden Lee and Thomas Howard led McKenzie with four points each.
