Huntingdon Wins at McKenzie

McKENZIE (March 17) — McKenzie High School hosted Huntingdon Monday afternoon for district tennis matches at the Bethel University courts.

The Mustangs swept both singles and doubles play, 4-0 and 2-0 respectively. The Fillies also swept singles play, but the Lady Rebels earned a doubles win for a 3-1 finish.

In the Fillies’ 7-0 singles sweep, Mary Kendall Stevens defeated Ava Hastings 8-2, Jazmine Seiber defeated Ashley Dunavant 8-6, Sara Beth Smith topped Willow Arnold 8-0, Alayla Johnson won over Rachel Oliver 8-0, Celeste Perez defeated Morgan Little 9-0, Lainey Bales topped Janyla Piro 6-0 and Savannah Vinson defeated Molly Drewry 8-0.

In doubles play, the duo of Fillies Vinson and Lila Reed defeated Piro and Drewry 8-0. Johnson and Bales beat Arnold and Oliver 8-6 and Smith and Perez defeated Arnold and Little 8-1. Lady Rebels Hastings and Dunavant defeated Stevens and Seiber 8-6.

In the Mustangs’ 4-0 singles sweep, Shawn Simpson defeated Alex Garcia 8-2, Carter Coleman topped Owen Walker 8-0, Cole Chafin beat Caleb Burke 8-2 and Tylan Johnson won against Davarion Gilbert 8-0.

In doubles play, Simpson and Coleman defeated Garcia and Walker 8-1, and Chafin and Nolan Foley defeated Burke and Gilbert 8-0.
