Inglenook Book Club News
From the Aug 20, 2024 e-EditionInglenook Book Club held its monthly meeting at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie on Wednesday August 14 with 20 members in attendance. President Gail Mack called the meeting to order and thanked the hostesses Mona Batchelor and Victoria Ard, who filled in for Pedie Pedersen who was absent. They served delicious lemon cake along with assorted nuts and beverages. The Pledge of Allegiance, Club Aim and Motto were recited by all. The birthday ladies for the month of August are Donna Ward and Jean Hollomon. Happy Birthday was sung by everyone.
The roll call and reading of July minutes were completed with the minutes being approved as read. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the Treasurer’s report, which was also approved as read. President Mack called on the committee chairs to report, there is a vacancy for a new member to join, and there are names that have been submitted to membership chair, Suzanne Howell. President Mack thanked the Sunshine and Telephone committee chairs for their participation and all they do for the club.
There was no unfinished business and no new business to report, and President Gail Mack called on Mona Batchelor to present the program. Mona spoke to the group about the fundamentals of reading, and several ways to read other than just by physical books-she stated Reading about an experience is almost the same as living it. It was very informative program, enjoyed by all.
Book passing was completed by book chair Mary Newman, and the next book passing date is August 28.
Announcement was made by Geneva Johnson about the upcoming Carroll Arts “Southern Fried Funnies”, which will take place on Thursday, August 22 at 7 p.m., and Saturday afternoon, August 24 at 2 p.m., at the Park Theatre in McKenzie.
The next meeting is September 11 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside. Hostesses will be Jean McKinnie and Genia Sherwood, and program presentation will be given by Donna Ward. Remember to bring assorted school supplies, anything is used, such as crayons, pencils, etc. The school is grateful for the school donations we provide for the students. The benediction was recited by all, and the meeting adjourned.
