Inglenook Book Club News
From the Sep 24, 2024 e-EditionMcKENZIE — Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie is where the September 11 Inglenook Book Club meeting was held with 20 members in attendance. President Gail Mack called the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, Club Aim and Motto, and recited by all.
Hostesses Jean McKinnie and Genia Sherwood were thanked for the delicious chocolate/creamcheese cake, assorted chocolates and nuts, and assorted beverages, that they served. September birthday ladies are Mona Batchelor, Peggy Chappell, Mary Newman, and Carolyn Potts. Everyone joined in singing Happy Birthday to the ladies.
President Mack called for roll and the reading of August minutes. The motion was made by Victoria Ard, and seconded by Jean Hollomon, to accept the minutes as read. Minutes were approved as read by all. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the Treasurer’s report, and it was approved as read by all. Committee reports by Sunshine Chair, Elaine Williams, Victoria Ard, telephone chair, and Membership chair, Suzanne Howell, were given.
Moving directly to old business the Membership chair, and the committee that met at the August meeting, brought back a proposal for additions/changes to the by-laws. Discussion was held, and the committee chair will report back at the October meeting, everyone was in agreement waiting until October for final approvals. There was no new business, so President Mack called on Donna Ward to present her program. Donna spoke on award winning and best-selling author Lisa Unger.
Book passing chair, Mary Newman completed the passing of books, and the next book passing date is September 25. Announcements were on the upcoming Tribute to Red Skelton at the Park Theatre, and the upcoming Heritage Festival in Huntingdon, on September 28 from 11-1, which will have storytellers present for the youth.
The next meeting will be on October 7 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside. Hostesses will be Carolyn Moore and Beverly Mueller. The program will be presented by Jean McKinnie. Remember to bring assortment of trinkets for the awards box at the school.
The benediction was recited by all, and the meeting adjourned.
