Inglenook Book Club

The monthly meeting was held on September 10 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside in McKenzie. President Gail Mack called the meeting to order, and thanked hostesses Jean McKinnie and Genia Sherwood for serving delicious chocolate cake, mints, and assorted beverages.

Everyone stood for the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Club Aim and Motto. The Birthday ladies for September are Peggy Chappell, Mary Newman, Mona Batchelor, and Carolyn Potts. Happy Birthday was sang by all.

Roll call was taken, with 18 members in attendance. July minutes were read, motion to approve by Jean Holloman and seconded by Shirley Martin, all approved the reading. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the Treasurer’s report, which was also approved a read. Sunshine chair, Elaine Williams, said cards were sent out, Telephone Chair, Carolyn Moore made sure everyone was aware of date, time, and what items to bring for school donation to the next meeting,

Publicity chair, Beverly Mueller stated the minutes have been getting into the Banner, and Membership Chair, Suzanne Howell, introduced the newest member, Karen Forester, and mention that there is still room for new member(s). Get names to Suzanne if you know someone interested in becoming a member. President Mack thanked all the committee chairs for all they do, and it is greatly appreciated.

In old business, discussion on the upcoming Christmas Party, location and menu. Beverly will present a menu next month for everyone to look at, and make final decisions. Discussion tabled until October meeting.

There was no new business so President Mack called on Jean Hollomon to present the program for Victoria Ard, and she read the traditional folktale story-The Tale of Three Trees by Angela Elwell Hunt. Excellent book, and beautifully drawn pictures.

Book Chair, Mary Newman completed the book passing, with the next book passing date being September 24.

Announcements were mentioned of the next meeting on October 8 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside. Hostesses will be Victoria Ard and Carolyn Potts.

The program will be presented by Suzanne Russell. Bring assorted trinket items for the coupons awards box for the school donation. President Mack thanked everyone for the items we donate each month to the school. They greatly appreciate the donations. The Benediction was recited by all, and the meeting adjourned.
