Inglenook Book Club News
From the Jan 20, 2026 e-EditionInglenook Book Club held its first monthly meeting of 2026 on January 14 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside in McKenzie.
President Gail Mack began the meeting by thanking hostesses Peggy Chappell and Suzanne Howell for serving delicious cherry cobbler, ice cream, assorted nuts and beverages. The Pledge of Allegiance, Club Aim and Club Motto were recited by all.
The 2026 Program Booklets were distributed to each member. There are no birthdays for the month of January.
Eighteen ladies answered the roll call, followed by the reading of December minutes. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the treasurer’s report. Both the reading of minutes and treasurer’s report were approved as read. Reminder: yearly dues are due this month. Memorials were given to the McKenzie library in memory of past members. Sunshine Chair, Membership Chair, Publicity Chair and Telephone Chair each gave their reports.
Donna Ward announced the upcoming Carroll Arts Trivia Bowl on January 24 at 7 p.m. at the CP church in McKenzie. We will have a team represented. Victoria Ard shared the new book passing order for this year.
Each member gave a short synopsis of the book they are putting in for reading this year. A lot of murder, history, love triangles and mayhem will have everyone excited about reading.
Book Secretary Victoria Ard completed book passing, with the next book passing date being January 28. Thank you for the personal hygiene donations collected today for McKenzie schools.
The next meeting will be February 11 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside. Hostesses will be Victoria Ard and Carolyn Potts. The program will be presented by Genia Sherwood.
The Benediction was recited by all and the meeting adjourned.
