Under new business, the announcement of the activities director at Lakeside has retired, and a new director will be coming soon.
Beverly Mueller presented the program. She spoke to us on the word ‘library’. So much history, past, present, and knowledge of ‘library’ were shared, and a lot of the members had stories to tell of a library experience they had in the past. Library derives from the Latin liber “book” and is traditionally a collection of books used for reading or study, or a building or room where a collection is kept. There are eight legendary ancient libraries, with the top three being in 1) modern-day Iraq, 2) Egypt, and 3) Turkey. It was an informative, learning program, enjoyed by all.
Book passing was completed by Mary Newman, book chair, with the next book passing date of June 26.
The next meeting is July 10, at 3 p.m. at Lakeside. The hostesses will be Carolyn Goodwin and Elaine Williams, with program presentation by Zia Locke. Members were encouraged to bring personal care (hygiene) items for the school donation.
