Inglenook Book Club Held Monthly Meeting
From the Jul 15, 2025 e-EditionThe Inglenook Book Club held its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. at Lakeside Senior Living Community, with 19 members in attendance. President Gail Mack called the meeting to order, and all stood for the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, the club aim and the club’s motto. Gail thanked hostesses Deb Simon and Elaine Williams for serving ice cream cake, assorted chocolates, nuts, and beverages. Birthdays for July are Victoria Ard, Shirley Martin, and Deb Simon and Happy Birthday was sang by all.
Roll call was taken, followed by the June minutes reading, a correction was made to the June minutes and then approved as read by all. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the Treasurer’s Report, which was also approved as read. Sunshine chair, Telephone chair, Membership chair, and Publicity chair all gave their reports. There is still a vacancy for one new member. There was an update from Mona Batchelor on the new bookstore for possible meetings to be held there. Discussion tabled until next month. President Mack called on Carolyn Potts to present the program. Carolyn spoke to the group about English detective novelist and playwright, Agatha Christie. Carolyn stated Christie is one of the best-selling novelists of all time. Carolyn shared good information with the group. The book passing was completed by Book Chair Mary Newman, with the next book passing date scheduled for July 23. Announcements followed, with the next meeting scheduled for August 13 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside. Hostesses will be Beverly Mueller and Pedie Pedersen. The program will be presented by Mary Newman. Members are asked to bring individually wrapped food snacks, etc., for the school donation. All recited the Benediction, and the meeting adjourned.
