Inglenook Book Club Meets
From the Apr 15, 2025 e-EditionThe monthly meeting of the Inglenook Book Club met April 9 at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie, with 19 members in attendance. The meeting was called to order by President Gail Mack, followed by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, the Club Aim, and the Club Motto. President Mack expressed gratitude to hostesses Carolyn Moore and Mary Newman for serving Oreo cookies, chocolates, and assorted beverages. A warm welcome was extended to our guest, Deb Laster, who attended the meeting and is considering becoming a member.
Roll call was taken, followed by the reading of the minutes from the March meeting, which were approved as read. Treasurer Donna Ward presented the treasurer’s report, which was also approved. Sunshine Chair Elaine Williams reported that cards had been sent out, and Telephone Chair Carolyn Moore was thanked for calling each member to remind them of the meeting date, time, and what to bring for school donations. Membership Chair Suzanne Howell was absent, but our guest today is considering joining the club. We also celebrated our April birthday member, Pedie Pedersen.
There was no old business to discuss. In new business, letters and cards were sent to past members who recently left, thanking them for their contributions and dedication to the club.
President Gail Mack presented the program on Jill Conner Browne, a multiple #1 New York Times bestselling author of nine “Sweet Potato Queens” books. She has created a global phenomenon with over 6,400 chapter groups in 37 countries. The program was excellent and highlighted very uplifting books that members should read.
Book passing was completed by Book Chair Mary Newman, with the next book passing scheduled for April 23rd. Announcements were made for the next meeting, which will take place on May 14th at 3:00 PM at Lakeside. Hostesses for that meeting will be Joyce Hayes and Jenny Wilson, and Elaine Williams will present the program. Members are encouraged to bring individual snack items for school donations. The benediction was recited by all, and the meeting was adjourned.
Members present were: Victoria Ard, Mona Batchelor, Peggy Chappell, Joyce Hayes, Jean Hollomon, Jean McKinnie, Gail Mack, Shirley Martin, Carolyn Moore, Beverly Mueller, Mary Newman, Carolyn Potts, Marilynn Putman, Suzanne Russell, Genia Sherwood, Deb Simon, Donna Ward, Elaine Williams, and Jenny Wilson.
