Inglenook Book Club Hosts November Meeting
From the Nov 25, 2025 e-EditionMcKENZIE (November 12) — The Inglenook Book Club held its meeting at the Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie at 3 p.m., with 14 ladies in attendance. Special thanks to Geneva Johnson and Beverly Mueller for hosting and serving delicious pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate caramel cake, along with assorted snacks and beverages. The Pledge of Allegiance, club aim, and motto were recited by all.
November birthdays include Carolyn Potts and Beverly Hills Mueller, and the group sang “Happy Birthday” to them. President Gail Mack called the roll and read the October minutes, which were approved as read. Treasurer Donna Ward followed with the treasurer’s report, which was also approved. The chairs for Sunshine, Telephone, Publicity, and Membership each presented their reports. There are vacancies for new members, so please let Suzanne Howell know if you have someone interested in joining.
In unfinished business, the final plans for the December Christmas luncheon were completed. In new business, Peggy Chappell announced the new slate of officers for 2026. All officers will remain for the new year, except for the book-passing chair. Please submit the title and author of your book for the 2026 reading so it can be included in the program book.
Geneva Johnson gave a presentation on the book club’s history to fill in for Suzanne Russell, who was out of town. She discussed how the club was first organized in June 1900, with its first group gathering on July 4, 1920. It was an interesting presentation, full of history.
Mary Newman continued with book passing, with the next book passing scheduled for November 26. She announced that the next meeting will be on December 10 at Lakeside at noon for the annual Christmas luncheon. Everyone is asked to bring individual food items for school donations. Carroll Arts will host a Christmas concert on December 4 at 7:00 PM at the Park Theatre.
All recited the Benediction, and the meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted by Recording Secretary, Beverly Mueller.
