Inglenook Book Club November News
From the Dec 3, 2024 e-EditionMcKENZIE (November 13) — The Inglenook Book Club’s monthly meeting was Wednesday at Lakeside Senior Living Community with 15 ladies in attendance.
The program started with Beverly Mueller’s guest speaker, Mayor Ryan Griffin of McKenzie. It was an informative speech from Mayor Griffin. The group was brought up to date on the continued progress of the city’s needs, accomplishments and ongoing projects. We appreciated Mayor Griffin taking time out of his schedule to attend and speak to us.
After Mayor Griffin departed, President Gail Mack called the meeting to order. Special thanks to the hostesses Jean Hollomon and Suzanne Russell for the delicious sandwiches, assorted chocolates and beverages. The Pledge of Allegiance, Club Aim and Club Motto were recited by all. The November birthday ladies are Carolyn Goodwin and Beverly Mueller. Happy Birthday was sung by all.
President Mack called for the roll and reading of the October minutes. Motion was made to approve the reading by Jean Hollomon and seconded by Suzanne Russell. Treasurer Donna Ward gave the treasurer’s report, and it was approved as read as well. The committee reports were given by Sunshine Chair Elaine Williams, Membership Chair Suzanne Howell and Telephone Chair Carolyn Moore, who will take on as the chair for 2025.
In unfinished business, Suzanne Howell named the officer slate for 2025. No changes made, except for telephone chair, who will be Carolyn Moore. No further old business.
New business was discussion on the upcoming Christmas party on December 11 at noon. It was voted to have the party at Lakeside and have food catered. Secretary Beverly Mueller will send out a friendly reminder of the party. There will be $10-$15 gift donations for items that the Lakeside residents can use.
With no further new business, Book Passing Chair Mary Newman called out the order of passing. She reminded everyone to get the title and author of the book they are going to submit for 2025 to her soon so it can be printed in the 2025 booklet. The next book passing date is November 27, or earlier if desired due to Thanksgiving Day on Thursday.
